WoodPost-Register Luke Grigg has been a leader for the Jacks with his consistency on the track. He has won six 300-meter hurdle races this season, as well as all four of the CWAC races. He has one more chance to win the hurdle race, while the Jackrabbits host the CWAC's Distr ct 5/6 track meet th s Fr day Boys second in CWAC Jackrabbits cap regular season with two more wins BY KURTIS J. WooD sports @ qvpr.com Luke Grigg has been a force this season, winning his fair share of 110-meter hurdles and 300-meter hurdles, as well as pole vault events. How many? Twenty in total. Armando Tafoya has chalked up nine wins in the shot and discus, Ian Huxtable has added eight victories in the long jump and high jump and Adrian Diaz has four wins in the 3200-meter run this season to help pace Quincy to a second place finish in the Central Washington Athletic Conference. All the individual success has also spread into the team competitions. The Jacks are 8-1 in the CWAC this season. Last year they were third and during Grigg's fresh- man season, Quincy was the doormat with nary a win. The difference has been senior athletes like Grigg, Huxtable and Diaz, as well as junior Tafoya. But a huge bonus has been the size of the boys and girls track teams combined. They ended the season with 74 student-athletes. "It's a huge step for our boys," coach Dave Stoddard said of his 8-1 campaign. They even collected the wins with key players sitting in street clothes. Both Huxtable and Tafoya sat out league meets, because they wert to an extra invitational and needed to sit one meet. Last week, Quincy added the final two wins to their CWAC campaign by upending Ellensburg and Toppenish to place second behind Ephrata.
