THE QUINCY VALLEY-, Post-RegiSter THURSDAY, June 19, 2014 SCHOOLS 17- Number Seven Abelardo Arizmendi Jr Parents: Elena Ybarra GPA/Rank: 7th College/Projected major or other plans: Spokane Community College and study HVAC/R. Plans after college: Find a full-time job doing HVAC/R in California. Favorite teacher and why: Ms. Murray, be- cause she pushed me to better myself and always believed in me when I was struggling. Stranded on a deserted island: Elena Ybarra and Olivia Ybarra-Arizmendi. Favorite Food: Chicken alfredo. Favorite or most cherished school memory: The parade when the QHS soccer team got back to the high school after winning state. Number Eight Luis F. Perez Parents: Susana Perez and Roberto Trujillo. GPA/Rank: 8th College/Projected major or other plans: I will be attending WSU, and eventually transfer- ring to become a Physicians Assistant. It is likely I will attend the U of W to attend their medical program. Plans after college: My goal is to return to a rural area such as Quincy to be able to help with medical needs. My dream is to return to Quincy and join a place such as QCHC. Favorite teacher and why: Wow-that is a tough question! I had several remarkable teach- ers that helped me and guided me through the Quincy system. Mrs. K. Wallace is a remarkable cardio teacher who cares about her students. She was also my advisory teacher this year. I was fortunate to have Mr. R. Kondo all four years of high school. He taught me the importance of working hard and being respectful to everyone you meet. Mr. J. Heikkila was both my math teacher and coach. He provided me not just solid math skills, but also included important life lessons. Ms. Blakely-Heitstuman was my advisory teacher in the past. I've worked with her on scholarship applications, college applications, etc. I can't de- scribe how much I appreciate all the help she has given me. Mr. Waiters is no longer in Quincy, but he helped me at the junior high. The list could go on. Stranded on a deserted island: My two best friends are Brauiio Garcia, who is a college student and will be attending EWU next year, and Gerardo Guzman. Gerardo is my running buddy. We both live for running. Gerardo will be attending BRCC. Favorite Food: Whatever fills by stomach and is edible. I prefer food that is semi- healthy. Favorite or most cherished school memory: During my freshman year, I was late to geometry. It was Hekkila's class. He said, "Why are you late?" He was a bit rough with his voice and added "Just because you are a freshman it does not mean you can be late to my class!" He added another item "By the way, do you want to join cross-country?" Number Nine Emiliano Alfredo Ybarra Parents: Fred and Schiree Ybarra. GPA/Rank: 9th College/Projected major or other plans: University of Washington - Medical field Plans after college: Go to medical school and become a surgeon. Favorite teacher and why: Mr. Petersen, Be- cause once we finished our work we would play Class of Clans. Also he-would test out new mov- ies and let us watch the beginning of them. Stranded on a deserted island: I would take Larry so he can take pictures of our whole jour- ney and Valerie because she is a beast at every- thing Favorite Food; My grandma's homemade food. It doesn't matter what she makes.. Favorite or most cherished school memory: Being undefeated back-to-back league and district champions in wrestling my junior and senior years. Number Ten Brett Evert Yeates Parents: Carl and Mickie Yeates - GPA/Rank: lOth College/Projected major or other plans: Two-year mission to Raleigh, North Carolina. BYU-Idaho - General studies Plans after college: Don't know yet. Favorite teacher and why: Ms, Murray.- She not only taught school curriculum, but also many ,- life lessons and inspired students. :, Stranded on a deserted island: Trey Petersen and Carter Bushman.
